Volunteer Screening and Monitoring Procedures



The safety and welfare of the children and young adults with disabilities who take part in KEEN's activities is of paramount concern to us. In order to safeguard the children and to insure the involvement of outstanding volunteers, KEEN uses the following procedures:

  1. A background check will be completed for all volunteers. All volunteers are required to provide their social secruity number and date of birth when filling out their registration form. In the event a volunteer is found to have a criminal record, this volunteer will be asked to refrain from further participation in the program.

  2. KEEN Chicago reserves the right to terminate a volunteer for any reason.

  3. All of the organization’s decisions regarding a volunteer’s participation shall be made on a non-discriminatory basis and without regard to race, gender, age, disability, religion, and/or national origin.
